Installation Guide

Prerequisites

  • •Google Chrome browser installed on your system
  • •Basic understanding of browser extensions

Installation Steps

1. Download the Extension

Clone or download the MemeShield AI repository:

git clone https://github.com/yourusername/memeshield-ai.git

2. Access Chrome Extensions

Open Chrome and navigate to the extensions page:

chrome://extensions/

You can also access this by:

  • 1. Click the three dots menu in Chrome
  • 2. Go to More Tools
  • 3. Select Extensions

3. Enable Developer Mode

Look for the "Developer mode" toggle in the top-right corner of the extensions page and enable it. This allows you to load unpacked extensions.

4. Load the Extension

Click the "Load unpacked" button that appears after enabling Developer mode. Navigate to the MemeShield AI folder you downloaded and select it.

Note: Make sure you select the root folder of the extension that contains the manifest.json file.

Verification

After installation, you should see:

  • •The MemeShield AI icon in your Chrome toolbar
  • •Risk analysis banners when visiting X profiles

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues during installation:

  • •Ensure Developer mode is enabled
  • •Verify you selected the correct folder containing manifest.json
  • •Try refreshing the extensions page
  • •Restart Chrome if needed
